HERE WE GO!
July 6,2006
For the first time in seventeen years I am not working for the summer. In addition JT is not working, it is the first time since we dated forty four years ago that we have have this long a time without working together, such a treat.
Irish Rover our small catboat went into the water the end of June due to JT's travel. We finally brought her to New Haven on a slightly rainy day. Unfortunately because of our recent weather it is not often that we have been able to go out sailing. JT did his usual hard work of putting her in ship shape, her bright work shines, her sides are compounded and decks spotless (at least for the moment). We are getting into our summer routine of enjoying Irish Rover being moored beside Sage restaurant listening to Reggae each Sunday afternoon.

Since my previous and only news, I have visited Matt and Holly, spent time with Scott, Becky and the girls, have a couple of trips to lovely Westport MA, ended the school year, and taken on the daunting task of lessening back pain.
MATT and HOLLY
April vacation I spent four days in Portland. Once again the weather was wonderful. The kids were working so I spent Thursday exploring the Zoo, especially the orangutans and polar bear, visiting the stately Pittock Mansion, home to the founder of the Oregonian newspaper whichoverlooks the city of Portland, driving through the Arboretum and attractive hill dwelling above the city. I'd arrive home have a visit with Holly before she did her afternoon run and be joined by Matt at the end of his day. Thursday evening we had dinner at a favorite Greek restaurant with delicious food. We enjoyed our tapa and red wine sitting outside watching life go by.
Friday I ventured into the city, took the streetcar to Powell's Bookstore and enjoyed a couple of hours browsing. Driving in Portland is a bit of a challenge for me. I explore much of the city looking for my way home. I am so pleased when I find the highway that leads me to SE Tenino St. Saturday Matt and I ventured out to watch a track meet his school was taking part in. Matt was a track coach this spring. A relaxing way to spend the morning sitting in the sun enjoying the kids efforts; and meeting some of Matt's students. We then started our trip to Mt St. Helen, my first visit. How exciting to be traveling the windy roads and have the snow capped peak appear around the corner. We stopped at the second highest viewing area, because of the snow, watched a film about the 1980's eruption and had lunch looking out at the peak once again steaming away. It was a most beautiful sight. Saturday evening Matt, Holly and I enjoyed a cookout birthday party for a friend. Delicious roasted pork with a secret family BBQ sauce that was very delicious especially over an added surprise of NW salmon.
Sunday after a relaxing breakfast on the deck, the three of us again left for the mountains this journey to Mt Hood, another first for me. What a beautiful sight it had snowed the weekend before. The wind was so strong that day that the ski slopes were closed, we enjoyed a glass of wine and cheese fondue in the Timberline Lodge, built by the CCC, enormous timbers and design. We sat on the third floor looking out the window half still under snow. We ended our journey driving through the Hood valley, stopping at for a most delicious marionberry milk shake. I brought home a few jars of their delicious marionberry jam.
My starting flight took me over and landed in Salt Lake City
